Guardians Call on Manatee County to Restore Historic Memorial

December 11, 2024

Bradenton, FL - Guardians of American History called on the Manatee County Comission to restore the historic monument removed in 2017 when a representative testified to the Commissioners at their first meeting after the 2024 Election in Bradenton, Florida.

Manatee County made national news when its fly-by-night contractor removed the historic monument in the middle of the night, dropped it, causing the stone to break in three places.

This historic monument was part of only 33 National Register listed places in Manatee County, the Manatee County Courthouse and the listing specifically includes the obelisk as a contributing feature of the property.

It is time to restore this important feature of Manatee County History. Please contact the Manatee County Commissioners and tell them it is time to remove the public stain on Manatee County and to restore the Manatee Memorial to is historic location.
